The Bad Guy

It’s ON!!! (or: Sean beats up another priest)

I was going to take a break from writing about Sean Hannity, but this was just too good to pass up. Rev. Thomas Euteneur called Sean out for being a bad Catholic (specifically, eating meat on Friday and promoting birth control). Since Sean has taken a liking to verbally beating up on men of the cloth as of late, he rolled up his sleeves and got into the ring.

-Highlights-

-Quite a bit of pot calling the kettle black going on. Sean, on at least two occasions evoked the “Judge not, lest ye be judged” line when Rev Euteneuer called him a bad Catholic.

-On birth control, Sean shows his…almost reasonable side. He acknowledges that not everyone in the world is Catholic and that birth control is preferable to abortion. The good Reverend does not agree and claims that a majority of all abortions happen because birth control doesn’t work. Just a note to Sean: DO NOT argue for things that you rail against most of the time, it makes you sound like a flip-flopper.

-Sean hits back by claiming that the Catholic Church DOES endorse one for of birth control: the rhythm method [correction: Sean was speaking of Natural Family Planning, which though similar to the rhythm method, is a separate thing]! Euteneuer disagrees that this is really birth control and more a form of “self control” (not that it matters, but I agree with the Rev).

-Sean shows how violently offended he is by being called a bad Catholic by invoking his attendance at a seminary, his study of Latin and a bunch of other stuff that might sound impressive from someone who wasn’t him.

-More “judge not…” from Sean.

-Rev. Euteneuer then tells Alan that, though Sean would be welcome in his church, he would deny him communion (translation: “I’m taking my ball and going home!”).

The decision? No one won. Though Rev. Euteneuer did seem to prove that Sean’s “depth of faith” was quite shallow…On the air at least. I am soooo looking forward to finding out what denomination of priest Sean will beat up next week!

  1. Just for the record, Natural Family Planning (NFP) is NOT the rhythm method. It is a scientifically sound and very accurate way of determining a woman’s fertility.

  2. My apologies, sir. NFP and FA are different things, you are right. Thank you for pointing this out to me. I do, however, still feel that both NFP & FA are more about “self control” than “birth control.” Thanks for your input.
